Polk County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller Stacy M. Butterfield, CPA, has announced the release of the annual list of unclaimed funds from the Clerk's office. These funds consist of unclaimed checks issued during court-related activities.
”Our hope is to get the word out so that we can get these funds to their rightful owners,” Clerk Butterfield said. “The process to check for your name is simple, so I encourage you to take a few minutes to review the list.”
Currently, there are over 50 unclaimed checks, each amounting to $100 or more.
To make a claim, contact the Clerk & Comptroller before Sept. 1. by reaching out to the unclaimed funds hotline at 863-534-4429 or ClerkButterfield@Polk-County.net. Include in the message name, phone number, birth date, and any other pertinent information.
As per Section 116.21 of the Florida Statutes, which pertains to unclaimed court-related property, failure to make a claim will result in the forfeiture of the funds. The unclaimed fund list was officially published in The Ledger on July 23.
