October is domestic violence awareness month. Did you know? According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, more than one in three women and one in four men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner. In Polk County alone, more than 2,200 cases of domestic violence were reported in 2020. The Clerk’s office helps domestic violence survivors obtain injunctions for protection. In recognition of domestic violence awareness month, we’re breaking down the types of injunctions available, how to get an injunction, and the resources available to victims of domestic violence.
