SR 60/U.S. 98 Intersection Improvement Project
Work Week Starting May 19, 2013
SR 60 (Van Fleet Drive): From west of US 98/Broadway Avenue to west of US 17 (SR 555): Construction project: Work continues to rebuild and widen the existing SR 60/US 98 intersection in Bartow from asphalt to concrete and provide additional travel lanes. Work includes concrete pavement, asphalt milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, sidewalk, lighting, signalization, signing and pavement marking and landscaping.
• Weather permitting, from 9 p.m. on Friday, May 17 to 5:30 a.m. on Monday, May 20, motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 60 and US 98 in both directions for concrete repairs. The location of the lane closures will change as the work progresses.
• No lane closures are scheduled on State Road 60 (Van Fleet Drive) or US 98 from Monday, May 20 to Friday, May 24. Crews will work behind the barrier walls along eastbound SR 60 from west of US 98 to Wal-Mart Drive.
Fort Fraser Trail status: westbound SR 60 entrance open; eastbound SR 60 entrance closed. Access to businesses is being maintained and motorists should use caution and watch for workers. Attire
DRESS CODE: Casual business attire is required. DO NOT WEAR shorts, jeans, t-shirts, tank tops, flip flops, sandals or shirts that reveal printed material that alludes to offensive or illegal activities. Tattoos should be covered by clothing, if possible. Courtrooms are generally very cool, and you may wish to bring a sweater or light jacket for your comfort.
Excusals
You may complete the Juror Request for Excusal/Deferment form included on your jury summons and mail back to: Jury Manager P.O. Box 9000, Drawer CC-6, Bartow, FL 33831-9000. If you need additional information, or have an emergency situation that will prevent you from jury service, please contact the Jury department at (863) 534-4569.
Length of Service
Your first day of service is normally limited to jury selection for trial held during that week. Jury selection is usually an all day process.
Payment for Jury Service
If you will receive regular pay from your employer during jury service, you are not entitled to compensation for the first three days of jury service. If you will not receive regular pay, you are entitled to receive $15.00 per day for the first three days of service. All jurors will receive $30.00 on the fourth day and each day thereafter. The Juror Check-In Form included with your jury summons must be completed before reporting on the scheduled date, and must be turned in to the Jury Coordination Office when you report.
Reporting
Before reporting for your first day of service, please call (863) 534-4582. If you are selected for a jury trial, follow the Judges instructions or refer to your trial reminder slip. Security
The following list of items are not allowed in the courthouse:

- Chains
- Tools
- Screwdrivers
- Pepper Spray
- Expandable Batons
- Glass Bottles
- Any item that can be used as a weapon
You will be required to take any items back to your vehicle or discard them. Signs reflecting these prohibited items are posted on the entrance doors.
