Bartow, Fla. (July 3, 2019) — Stacy M. Butterfield wears many hats in her role as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and as Polk County’s Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. As Clerk & Comptroller, she oversees more than 1,000 duties in service to the Polk County community. On June 26th at the organization’s annual summer conference, she added one more hat to her collection as she was officially sworn in for a one-year term as President of the Executive Board of Florida Court Clerks and Comptrollers (FCCC). Former Polk County Clerk and Comptroller Richard Weiss administered the oath of office, and presented her with a custom-built LEGO® gavel provided by LEGOLAND® Florida Resort.
The FCCC is a statewide nonprofit member association composed of the 68 Florida Clerks of the Circuit Court and Comptrollers. The association provides local government support services, technical assistance, legislative support, education, and much more. Most importantly, FCCC fosters a collaborative working relationship between Florida’s Clerks & Comptrollers, actively working to reach goals and set standards that benefit the communities that they serve and create consistency throughout the state.
“It is an honor to be trusted with this position, and I look forward to the accomplishments that Clerks & Comptrollers statewide will achieve this year,” said Clerk Butterfield. “Florida’s Clerks & Comptrollers provide critical services that affect public safety, commerce, and access to justice. We will continue to make it a priority to serve and protect the public trust. As we do so, we are committed to innovation and further improving our services.”
The board consists of officers serving on the Executive Committee, as well as district directors who represent Clerks statewide. Executive Committee Officers include Clay County Clerk Tara S. Green (President-Elect), Manatee County Clerk Angelina “Angel” Colonneso, Esq., Martin County Clerk Carolyn Timmann (Treasurer), and Suwannee County Clerk Barry Baker (Secretary). The Immediate Past President is Sharon R. Bock, Esq., Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptroller.
District Directors include Walton County Clerk Alex Alford (District I), Liberty County Clerk Kathleen Brown (District II), Union County Clerk Kellie Hendricks Connell, CPA (District III), Citrus County Clerk Angela Vick (District IV), Orange County Clerk Tiffany Moore Russell, Esq. (District V), Pinellas County Clerk Ken Burke, CPA (District VI), and Lee County Clerk Linda Doggett (District VII).
“I think it is important for leaders to always keep the big picture in mind and when appropriate, think beyond jurisdictional boundaries as to what is best for the customer” Clerk Butterfield said. “Florida’s Clerks & Comptrollers utilize FCCC to foster unity between all 68 Clerks & Comptrollers. FCCC’s vision and mission are crucial to our role as Clerks & Comptrollers, and it is a priority of mine to be actively involved in the organization in order to best serve Polk County.”
