"Courting couples” can tie-the-knot on the most romantic day of the year. Beginning at noon on Valentine’s Day, we are hosting a group marriage ceremony at the Polk County History Center.
The ceremony takes place on the picturesque steps of the historic courthouse and features a poem reading by the Honorable Judge Mary Catherine Green, musical serenades by students of the Harrison School for the Arts and photos. Following the ceremony, couples and their guests are treated to a reception with light refreshments provided by local sponsors in the vintage 1926 courtroom.
We are waiving the $30 ceremony fee; however, standard marriage license fees do apply. For more information, call the Official Records department at 863-534-4516. To participate, couples must apply for a marriage license by Wednesday, Feb. 11. Spots are reserved as couples obtain their licenses.
