This department handles cases for monetary judgments in the amount of $1.00 to $15,000.00 and landlord/tenant cases. County Court Civil is responsible for assisting citizens in filing small claims actions by providing the necessary forms, instructional materials and references on the small claim process. Included in the County Court Civil division is the Marriage and Passport section. This section takes passport applications and issues marriage licenses and performs marriage ceremonies, as well as assisting customers in obtaining passports. Marriage license applicants are required to read the Marriage Handbook and affirm that they have read it when applying for a marriage license. There is a three day waiting period to obtain a marriage license if you have not completed an approved marriage preparation class. Parker Street, Room 240, phone 863-603-6412; and Winter Haven-Haines City Branch at the Northeast Polk County Government Center, 3425 Lake Alfred Road, 7 Gill Jones Plaza, Winter Haven, Fl 33881, phone 863-401-2400.  The Lakeland and Winter Haven- Haines City locations are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
